
Eligibility to nominate/ be nominated
for an award
- All categories of PLA membership are eligible to be nominated.
- All nominators must be individual members, Corporate members
or representatives of Corporate members of PLA;
- Nominators may nominate their own organization / person /
project or a third party known to them for all awards except
the Frank Stewart Award or the Student/Apprentice
Project Award.
- Only projects of PLA members can be nominated for an award.
How to nominate
All award nominations must be submitted “on-line”
via the www.plaawards.com.au website on or before the closing
date – 5.00pm Friday 18 July 2008.
Nomination Forms can be seen /downloaded from the www.plaawards.com.au
website.
- All entries should:
- Address the relevant judging criteria for the award;
- Be in the template format applicable to the category;
- Be uploaded onto the website. (The presentation should
be no greater than five (5)mgs in either a word format,
Power Point format or PDF file.)
- Photos should be explained and highlight the nomination. These
can be uploaded onto the website (maximum of 4 photos –
each photo being a maximum of 1 mg).
- Supporting documents and Testimonials can be uploaded separately.
- PRAV nominations must be in a Power Point format (Max 15
Slides).
Process for Judging
- All nominations must be received on or before the closing
date by the PLA National Office.
- After receiving all awards at National Office, Regional Award
nominations will be sent to each respective PLA Regional Council
for Regional judging in July / August 2008. All Regions will
have their own judging panel.
- The announcement of Regional winners will be mid-August 2008
in time for the Regional PLA Annual General Meetings.
- Regional Award winners automatically become National finalists.
- National finalists will be invited to present their project
as a case study, as part of the Melbourne National Conference
program in November 2008.
- All National Awards will be judged by the PLA panel of judges
after August 2008.
- National Awards will be presented at the PLA National Conference
in Melbourne from 9-12 November 2008.
- Awards will be judged in accordance to their particular objectives
and strict criteria.
Please note: All National award judges
are past recipients of the Frank Stewart Award. The judging panel
is: Helen Croxford, Les Dennis, David Aldous, Sarah Jo Mason and
Tony Veal.
Award Conditions and Recognition
- Late nominations cannot be accepted.
- All decisions of the judging panel will be final and no correspondence
will be entered into. Should the respective judging panel believe
that nominations do not totally fit the criteria or standard
of excellence it will not be obliged to confer the particular
award.
- National winners or representatives are expected to be in
attendance at the PLA National Conference (at their own cost)
9-12 November 2008 in Melbourne in order to receive their awards.
A two minute acceptance speech would be expected from the PLA
professional responsible for the awarded project.
- The short-listed finalists of the PRAV Playground awards;
Management Awards, Program/Program and Practice Awards, Planning
award and Student / Apprenticeship Award must be prepared to
present an overview of their project at the PLA 2008 National
Conference. Advance notice will be provided to these short-listed
finalists.
- Information supporting nominations may also be used by PLA
for editorial, promotional or advertising purposes.
- Nominators may be approached for awards publicity.
Regional Winners will receive:
- Certificate of Recognition – Presented at the Regional
Function (AGM);
- Regional Newsletter profile;
- PLA Website profile– overview information;
- Automatic nomination for the National award.
National Award Winners will receive:
- Glass Shard / Presentation – Presented at National Conference;
- Booklet information on finalists, presented at National Conference;
- Journal profile – Award recipient; and
- PLA Website – overview of award recipients.
