Management Awards

Overview
These awards seek to recognise leisure facilities, parks and open space developments and events or festivals which demonstrate excellence in their fields. Successful management should be able to be acclaimed as models of best practice and examples to the industry.

It is recognized that management projects may take a number of years to reach fruition, however any improvements or developments must have occurred over the last two years.

There are four categories:

  1. Management of Leisure Facilities;
  2. Management of Parks;
  3. Management of Open Space Development; and
  4. Management of Events / Festivals

1. Leisure Facilities may include: leisure centres, swim centres, community houses, sporting facilities (venues for activities) etc.

2. Parks may include: local, rural and urban parks and gardens, state or national parks (non structured sporting activities)

3. Open Space Development may include: a municipal district, a regional or state area or a specific site. It can also include streetscape development or residential development.

4. Events / Festivals may include: a local or regional event or festival.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominations must:

  • Be of a current member organisation;
  • Be nominated by a PLA individual or corporate member;
  • Nominate a leisure facility, park, open space development or event or festival that has made management improvements over the past two years; and
  • Nominate management that demonstrates excellence in its category.

Judging Criteria

Judges will take into consideration: clarity of goals/objectives; innovation,; management processes and frameworks; assessment of outcomes; staff and customer satisfaction; stakeholder benefits and financial, sustainability and accessibility dimensions.

Nomination & Submission Checklist

  • All sections of the Nomination form must be completed;

Does your submission include?

  • A word or PDF formatted document template of the Nomination form (maximum of 5mg, which consists of:
    • Section A:- Title page (name and location of Leisure Facility, Park, Open Space Development organisation or Event / Festival name of contact person, contact phone numbers, email address and mailing address of nominators);
    • Section B:- Relevant information that addresses the judging criteria for the award,
  • Photos of the Leisure Facility, Park, Open Space Development, or Event /Festival (maximum 4 – 1mg each in jpeg format), and include explanation of the photos;
  • Supporting material can be submitted in Word format and can include charts, brochures, certificates, awards, media stories, citations, reports testimonials or statements from referees. (Maximum of 4 pages)

Please note:

  • This nomination is to be used for review and information only;
  • That any other supplementary printed matter, DVD’s or additional presentations are not required, and will not be considered by the judging panel
  • Please do not include any information you need returned to you or you do not want published;
  • All information received remains the property of PLA;
  • Separate applications are required for each different award nomination lodged; and
  • An electronic letter will be sent to each applicant acknowledging receipt of the nomination.
