Project Award
Overview
This award seeks to recognise a student or apprentice or group
of students / apprentices within an organisation who are studying
or working on a project as part of their qualifications in the
parks and leisure industry. This can be a community event, a project,
study or research for a doctorate. It must have occurred over
the past 2 years.
The nomination submitted must be relevant to the parks and leisure
industry. It must demonstrate a strong contribution to the development
of study, project of event that will be recognized in the future.

Eligibility Criteria
Nominations must:
- Be of a current member organization
- Be nominated by a PLA individual or corporate member;
- Nominate a project that has been commenced, implemented and
evaluated over the past 4 years and must have been completed
in the last 18 months; and
- Nominate a project that demonstrates the highest standard
of parks and leisure planning.
Judging Criteria
Judges will take into consideration evidence which demonstrates
how some or all of the following issues were addressed:
- The nature and scale of the study, project or event which
the student or apprentice or group were involved in;
- The stages/ processes of the study, project or event, its
success which followed and any optional strategies which have
been evaluated and were rejected;
- An overview of the findings of the study, project or event
with details on any new, significant developments or results
which might signal a change or new direction in parks, leisure
and recreation need, demand or participation in the industry;
- Were there any difficulties along the way and how were these
difficulties overcome?;
- Whether the process was evaluated, and if so, how the process
might be improved in future as a result?;
- Has the study, project or event been implemented? What outcomes
were achieved;
- What will happen as a result of the success of the study,
project or event?
- What makes this study, project or event worthy of recognition?
Nomination & Submission Checklist
- All sections of the Nomination form must be completed and
submitted ‘on-line’;
Does your submission include?
- A word or PDF formatted document template of the Nomination
form (maximum of 5mg, which consists of:
- Section A:- Title page (name and location of project,
name of nominated person, contact person, contact phone
numbers, email address and mailing address of nominators);
- Section B:- Relevant information that addresses the judging
criteria for the award,
- Photos of the project/team/person can be submitted ‘on-line’
separately to the word/pdf document and include explanation
of the photos. There is a maximum of 4 (except in Playgrounds
category) <1mg each photo in jpeg format;
- Supporting material can be submitted ‘on-line’
in Word, Power Point or PDF format and can include charts, brochures,
certificates, awards, media stories, citations, reports, testimonials
or statements from referees. (Maximum of 4 pages)
Please note:
- This nomination is to be used for review and information only;
- That any other supplementary printed matter, DVD’s or
additional presentations are not required, and will not be considered
by the judging panel
- Please do not include any information you need returned to
you or you do not want published;
- All information received remains the property of PLA;
- Separate applications are required for each different award
nomination lodged; and
- An electronic letter will be sent to each applicant acknowledging
receipt of the nomination.
